This is the first film I completed at UCLA in the MFA Animation program. It's an experimental film shot all underneath a 16mm camera. I spent 8-10 hours per day firing off one single frame of film at time, manipulating the images every two frames. The process was arduous and time-consuming with an added level of stress shooting on film with the possibility that exposure or focus would be wrong!
When I previewed the workprint at Fotokem and clear images appeared on the screen, I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
I wrote the piece of music for the film as well. Each section of the music represents the different stages of the life of the tree and the peeling back of its' layers.
